Rainy Day Panels # 12 & 35

Oh, they’ll stone you when you speak about the blogs
They’ll stone you over feminists and God
They’ll stone you when you say “September Seven”
Or if you talk about Mother in Heaven
But, I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must Sun Stone.

Which panels are you looking forward to at Sunstone next month?

Notes to line 1: See Sunstone Program (below), panels number 173, 174, 275, and 326 (as well as 153, 332, 356, 362, and 373 which feature bloggernacle writers).
Line 2: Basically the whole conference (and massive overlap with the other categories I’ve mentioned here). Some of the many panels not mentioned in my other footnotes include panels 132, 164, 191, 221, 234, 235, 252, 263, and 391 (Jan Shipps!).
Line 3: Panels 101, 124, 131 (with bonus guest Sonja Farnsworth!), 162, 172, 212, 261, 271 (with Jan Shipps), 273, and 371 (see also 355 for more figures in highly visible church discipline). (I also have it on good authority that another panel is going to be added which will focus on another high-profile excommunicant.)
Line 4: Panels 124, 162, and 324.
Line 5: Panel 326.
Line 6: In general, see the preliminary program here.

(& see also interesting sessions at 331, 374, and many others).

  1. Kaimi,

There were actually only six in September 1992. So would you accept a slightly revised satiric verse?

Oh, they’ll stone you when you speak about the blogs
They’ll stone you over feminists and God
They’ll stone you when you say “September Six”
    Talk Heavenly Mother—they’ll throw bricks
But, I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must Sun Stone.

    See you at Sunstone.

  2. Yeah, I know there were only six, but I thought that Margaret should receive honorable mention (they got around to her a few years later).

    Besides, it rhymed. :)

(But I’ll happily accept alternate lyrics.)

  3. I get your rationale. Honorable mention indeed. One of the most stirringly moving presentation in the annals of the symposium had to be Margaret T’s calm, deliberate but incredibly restrained account of her own excommunication.
Glad to anticipate what both she and Paul are scheduled to contribute this time around.

    Cheers

  4. Line 6 — a gathering for bloggers will be held in one of the conference rooms Friday evening at 10pm. (No food, that’s the only reason I didn’t call it a snacker!) You are all welcome, come and meet up with your favorite bloggers!

Hope to see many of you there!

  5. When and where is that sunstone thing? I think I’ll go and mooch off one of my friends.
